27. King of Torts - John Grisham
28. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - J.K. Rowling
Behind the cut are my thoughts on the Half Blood Prince. There will be many spoilers. This is your warning!!!
There were many facets of the book that I loved. Harry finally got together with Ginny; Ron and Hermoine finally understand how they feel about each other. I liked that Harry was finally confiding in Dumbledore (for the most part) and not keeping all his frustrations bottled up quite as much. I loved that Harry spent so much time with Dumbledore.
I am quite upset with J.K. for killing off Dumbledore. I am just plain mad! I know, I know. It was necessary to expose Snape for the evil git that he is. I honestly didn't believe it. I thought perhaps Snape had spoken the curse slightly modified so that Dumbledore appeared dead but wasn't. I still can't help thinking that Snape still has some good in him. He didn't kill Harry when he had the chance. But does that really mean anything? He killed Dumbledore!! I just did not expect this whole turn of events. Dumbledore trusted Snape, so I did too. I thought Prof. Trelawney would be the one who was killed.
What will become of Snape and Malfoy now, I wonder? She really did leave us hanging at the end, didn't she? And how much longer will we have to wait this time? However long, I will be ready to snatch it up and devour it just as I did this one. She truly is a gifted writer.
lol-spell check sure didn't like all these Harry potter names :)

As far as lengthy spell checking goes, I usually write stuff in a Microsoft Word or WordPerfect and do spell check there, then cut an paste over to LJ. It's easier for me.

I like spoilers too
..when they are about things that are sad. I don't like getting sad surprises. (I wondered over from the 50 book thingy because I heard I could find my way to spoilers to find out who died so I could be prepared for it).It seems to me that whenever Harry begins to get along well with an adult, she kills him off. As though she is purposely trying to make Harry alone and thereby making it harder for him. The Weasleys don't count because they have to put their own children first. This was okay once but sucks as a long term thing and is kind of cheesy as well - but then I don't consider her to be among my top writers so I'm predjudiced.

Re: I like spoilers too
Nice to meet you and glad I could help :) I agree, she does seem to be killing off all the people closest to Harry. Things look grim for either Ron or Hermoine in book 7. I guess we shall see.So, who do you count among your top writers?

Re: I like spoilers too
Don't even entertain the idea that things are grim for Ron and Hermoine. Don't EVEN mention Ginny. I told Mike that if JK killed off Ginny I wouldn't read the 7th book - this was when we hadn't finished book 6 and Harry was wondering who was dead. I was terrified that it might be she...I don't want any of the kids to die, you know? I want them all to grow up together, have babies and enjoy life as part of the Weasley family.
